Welcome to the show!
Before I get into what this project is about; I want to take a moment to tell you what it is not. The information I share is not meant to be a training resource. I am not a trainer nor do I wish to pretend to be able to tell you how to do your job.
However, over the years I have worked many service technician positions and have learned several lessons along the way that I consider to be quite valuable. As I share these with you, hopefully, you will find them valuable too. Lets get started.
My videos will be sorted into 6 categories; those being:
CAREER | CYA | ORGANIZATION | PREPARATION | RESOURCES | SAFETY
The emphasis on these discussions is to bring to light the importance of not considering your employment as merely a job but a professional career. There are many things we can all do to give ourselves the best chance for long term successful outcomes.
The ability to survive the grind with the least amount of resistance comes down to, in large part, focusing on the categories just mentioned.
Getting the information out there in a clear and concise manner is a priority for me. To that end, I plan on making sure my videos last no longer than 10 minutes each. In fact, I am naming the videos series: TECH UNDER 10
It is worth mentioning that few of the ideas I am going to share are mine of my own volition. The vast majority of what I know about working in the trades came from those who came before me and were kind enough to share with me what they themselves have learned.
So to each of those individuals I will always be grateful;
and I cannot thank them enough.
Regarding the few lessons I did manage to learn all on my own, I assure you, that I was unable to benefit from them until after the act of screwing up… after the blood, sweat, and tears were all washed away and I had time to reflect on what went wrong.
If I can somehow manage to save even just one of you from going through any number of ordeals that I have been through, well then, my work here has not been in vain.
